This workshop will begin with a brief overview by Pamela Becker about the mission of Community Partners and the development of the MindsEye Designs program. “I AM” will be the project discussed in light of the call to address equity and identity in arts education. “I AM” was conceived and developed to provide expressive opportunities using visual art and literacy for adults with disabilities, to provide experience with vocal and visual presentation in the arts. This project was exhibited at several area locations and involved two public staging’s from the MindsEye Designs’ artists. In this workshop, participants are invited to engage in a presentation of eleven featured “I AM” works and poems made by MindsEye Designs’ artists. This will be followed by a discussion about the relevance and adaptability of the project today. Time will be held for visualization, self reflection, writing and making a simple “I Am” souvenir to cap the afternoon’s workshop.
